This post brought to you by inspiration from Kelle's post: The "Can't Also" Crisis and Sorting Out Identity Issues at 35 Years Old: also know as A Great Many Things, Part 2.
My favorites:
“Stop worrying about your identity and concern yourself with the people you care about, ideas that matter to you, beliefs you can stand by, tickets you can run on. Intelligent humans make those choices with their brain and hearts and they make them alone. The world does not deliver meaning to you. You have to make it meaningful…and decide what you want and need and must do. It’s a tough, unimaginably lonely and complicated way to be in the world. But that’s the deal: you have to live; you can’t live by slogans, dead ideas, clichés, or national flags. Finding an identity is easy. It’s the easy way out." -Zadie Smith, On Beauty
“When you’re not being who you really are because you’re trying to make sure you’re being real, then you’re denying who you are—that, in turn, is phony.” -Kelle's friend, Wylie
Growing up in 5 different states gave me a lot of beautiful things and who is to say that I cannot love them all? Moving around opened my mind, strengthened my confidence, and exposed me to love. Love doesn't always look the same. After all, Jesus was love in a manger, at a well, in a burning bush, in a rainbow, and on a cross.
It is okay if you don't fit the mold.
It is okay if you want to wear a tutu and cleats.
It is okay if you want to save the children and the whales.
Whatever you do, be full of passion, and do it!
In this season I'm obsessed with:
- the benefits of breastfeeding and the risks of formula feeding
- Burt's Bees
- choosing life and adoption
- reminiscing on the days I spent on the coast
- how to get more than 3 hours of sleep.
- babywearing
- "styling" my home.. or at least dreaming about it.
- stepping away from social media to really "live"
- CFA
- listening, really listening, to music again
Scrambling to put the sparkle back in my life. To ENJOY every day. To be a better friend, wife, daughter, sister, and mother. Vowing to hold tight to creativity and spontaneity. There is always a reason to celebrate and that is what I want to do. If we don't learn how to celebrate now, what will we do in Heaven? We are going to celebrate a lot in Heaven. We'll have a perfect Savior to sing songs to, Paw-Paws to hug, victory over satan, no more tears, and new bodies. Hey yeah!

Ping, Ping, Ping
That's what the thoughts in my brain sound like. I haven't completed a thought or idea since September. Before I start rambling on about 18 different things let me say that Hank weighed 17lbs 6 ounces yesterday.
Okay, so here is the real deal...
Over the course of some amount of time I don't know, I have let sin slip into my heart and basically rent every available space. I could blame this on small town living, post partum brain, or negative people in my life that I swear think they exist to create stress at the green house. However, I choose this day to take responsibility.
I choose this day to bid Facebook farewell.
I choose this day to start making better food choices.
I choose this day to start moving my body again.
I choose this day to speak positive words.
I choose this day to make greater efforts to send love to my closest friends that mainly live the farthest away.
I choose to do all of these things to make room for more of these things:
The Word
Will
Hank
Laundry
Dinner
Positive thoughts
Originality
Things are way out of hand and I'm embarrassed I let them get this way. I am so undeserving of a husband who has loved me despite the darkness in my heart. I am thankful for friends who continue to stand by me, cheering me on when I'm walking in circles babbling about things that don't matter in the grand scheme. I'm thankful for a woman who is older and wiser that is choosing to lift me up, guide me along this new road of motherhood. Mostly though, I'm forever indebted to Jesus. He can make me new every single day and boy do I need that. He loves me when I'm too ashamed to pray His holy name. He calls me his own when no one else in the entire world would identify me as a Christ follower. Time to kick it in high gear and be who I'm called to be to the people I'm called to serve.

5 Months!
FIVE MONTHS?
Where has the time gone? I love this baby so much it still brings me to tears. I often chant "Hank is my baby and I love my Hank!" to him and he grins the biggest gummy grin. So incredibly fun at 5 months.
-Unofficial weight: Somewhere between 17 and 17 and a half pounds.
-Laughs a lot more now. Especially when tickled right under the rib cage.
-Still eats about every 2 hours. Nights included.
-Teeth are a beast right now and have caused our "always happy" baby to fuss a bit more while having the urge to gnaw on everything for relief. Poor babe. Has started hurting Mama a bit too. Ouchy Chihuahua.
-Went to sleep last night swaddled in his cradle by himself. His request. Yay and boo for Mama.
-Takes naps on mama and daddy's bed the same way during the day.
-Went to Janney Park with Landry for the first time yesterday.
-Loves the exersaucer. Entertains himself for days working all the little gadgets and toys.
-Getting better about tummy time and playing on his tummy for longer stretches. Flipped over last week from tummy to back, twice. Mama missed BOTH times. Tricky trickster ;)
-6 mos clothes are starting to fit snugly.
-Loves hanging out and napping in the ergo.
Baby Hank, you are my favorite and will always be my baby. With that being said, praying that you will grow up to be strong and independent. That you will fear the Lord and honor Him in all you do. I pray that everyone will want you as a friend, brother, student, athlete, employee, etc. There is nothing I love more than taking care of you and your daddy. Can't wait for hikes and fishing trips with you two this summer.

Sleeping?
Beware! If you are sleeping peacefully in my house....Beware. This crazy sleep envy has taken over me. If you can sleep all night or even nap during the day I'll give you a high five, just don't do it in front of me. I love my baby and will wake up with him as much as he needs to but I do miss sleeping more than 2 hours at a time. They say night milk is brain milk so Hank better be valedictorian like his father! We will only allow A's in this house! Haha!
It's 9pm and Hank has been asleep for 20-30 minutes and yet I can't go to bed because I have to contemplate buying toms on zulily. Do I reallllly need them? Is it that great of a deal? I mean dang it, Maggie, you don't shop for yourself a lot... Buy some new dang toms. After all, your toms all have holes in them and you keep wearing them. You aren't a teenager. Wear some shoes that don't have holes. So am I this crazy because of lack of sleep or am I lacking sleep because I'm crazy? Crazy, I tell ya.
The teething monsters are real and they are more scary than the dinosaurs on Jurassic park! Despite the hippie necklace I make Hank wear to help alleviate some symptoms of teething, he still, gnaws non stop, drools, and growls. Yet, I'm still too scared to take it off in fear that he might start crying out in the middle of the night again. He is still toothless and I'm pretty okay with that for reasons you can probably guess. :) Go away teething monsters, let my baby's teeth pop through painlessly.
To all the working (outside of the home) moms who come home and do laundry, meals, dishes, and bedtime routines and still smile.... You are my hero!!! Seriously, you are a gift to your husbands and children. Teach me your ways.
One last random (that I talked to Hali about today): Every single thing I eat makes me super paranoid. Gmo's, chemicals, added hormones, processed cheese, processed meats, pesticides..... With every bite I feel like I'm dying a little more. Mexico banned gmo corn yet America is all "eat up, USA! The corn that can't even be labeled as food because it has so much bug spray in it is so good for you!". Agh! Something needs to be done. Should I write Mrs. Obama a letter so we can eat horrible meals like our poor children in school cafeterias? I hate cancer, I hate spare tires, respiratory issues, digestive issues, skin problems, and you-name-it that is a result of the terrible food we consume.
Bill Cosby for president!

Funnies
It wasn't that long ago that everyone was obsessed with calling each other "sweet friend". That is cool, I guess? I mean is sweet the word you use to describe all of your besties? I think it is especially funny when someone refers to me as "sweet friend". I wish I thought of myself as a sweet person. But I just don't. My mom? She really is sweet. Hoping that age will make me sweeter. Just about the only time I'm sweet is with babies and children...they are what I do best. My friend Holly is hilarious. My sister Paige is selfless. Will's brother is original. My friend Jordan is passionate. Brittany is laid back. Bea is creative. You get me? I love my friends just about as much as you can love humans but I don't use sweet to describe them all. That would be overlooking their most outstanding qualities.
Next funny: using y'all dramatically on social media. Okay folks, I might say y'all dramatically here and there in real life and maybe once on social media if I'm really trying to get the point across. All of a sudden everything is Y'ALL this and y'all that. And seriously, y'all. We get it. You're dramatic and southern. Country boys would eat that combo up.
Can we please stop taking selfies? I like selfies with more than one person in the picture but you have to stop posting true selfies everyday. I don't care that you put make up on and I don't care that you're in the car. Stop. Please.
Last, everyone is all natural now because they put some oil on their big toe. I am all about people getting their acts together and taking care of their temple (myself included). But if you think that oil is gonna cure you after you eat a basket of grease and powdered doughnuts everyday....you're gonna be sad. No way that stuff can work properly when you have chemicals built up in your system.
Now I will go eat more red velvet cake, bread, sugar, and junk. I do plan on getting back in the swing of things soon. This warmer weather is helping me get motivated. I don't know what my goal is gonna be but my reward is gonna be a hair cut in a salon. Mama pouch above my pants, I sure am going to miss you.....psych!
Oh and if I see one more picture of someone's kid in the car seat not properly strapped in I'm gonna lose it. If you can't take the time to make sure your babe is safe please don't post it on social media.
Must be time for me to take a break from social media. Guess I need to come up with a plan for that one, too...
