4 Months!

January 20th marked four months for Hank.

-He weighed 15lbs 11oz and I'm not sure how tall he is because the nurse didn't measure accurately ;)

-Hank loves to eat all through the night and truthfully Mama is starting to get tired now that she is working. For real though, there is nothing I would not do for that child so cheers to dark circles under eyes and big yawns. Hank starts out in his bed and eventually ends up tucked next to mama till morning time.

-Still working on teeth with lots of drool and gnawing.

-Gave Daddy a big belly laugh on Mama's birthday. Melt. my. heart!

-Loves standing and is proud that he can.

-Hank now stays with his Grandpap on Tuesdays and his Nana on Thursdays while Mama works at the car lot. The first week he did not like the bottle but has since warmed up to it.

-On Friday, January 17th,he learned the "A" sound. He loves to tells us all about it and loudly. Hank still likes to say "a goo" and loves to spit now, too!

-The child still loves laying on his changing table and in his bed in his room.

I can't believe my baby is 4 months old. Seems like just yesterday I was 14 weeks pregnant and feeling him kick for the first time. Love you "big as Heaven" as your Aunt Bea says to her family. Praying for you to grow up to be strong and courageous and for a little more sleep. I adore your gummy grin.

Words of Wisdom

from Amy Stone to me and from me to whoever else needs/wants them.

My talk with her was SO SO good for my soul. She was real and honest just like I like my conversations. Her words came in the perfect time and I know that Jesus orchestrated the whole thing. The things she said are things I don't want to forget. Ever. (I'm going to paraphrase.)

-The devil will use isolation to get you. He's done it to a lot of women I know and he's tried it with me. Sounds like this in your head... "No one understands you", "No one knows how you feel", "No one has ever dealt with that", "No one has been there before". Lies. Don't believe them. There is strength in community, numbers, and sisterhood. If you haven't found "your people" don't stop looking.

-Sometimes I miss half of Sunday School or half of church because I'm nursing Hank. Nursing him is very important for both of us but so is Jesus and corporate worship. I was feeling anxious about never listening to a whole message or lesson. Amy said that I can't "feed" Hank unless I let Him feed me. SO TRUE. Hank is always going to grow and need different things during different phases of his life. I can't stay where I am NOW and be the mom he will need tomorrow, when he's 4, 14, or 21. The next part of what she told me was this: HE knows what 20 minutes you will be in SS or church. HE knows what you need to hear in those minutes. Crying yet? I was. I have found a new class and after one week.... LOVE it. Having a group of ladies you can learn with and be REAL with is vital for life!

That pretty much sums up the things I need not ever forget.

Be careful

Or you'll miss it. Miss what? The blessings of Jesus.

Maybe this is you. Maybe it's not. It is for sure me though...

Hank will be 4 months old in a week. Where does time go? I feel like I was maybe...okay really, in a fog during my 4th trimester. I was deeply in love with my infant son and most of the time I was liking Will (I always love him, have you met him? It's impossible to not). However, because of Hank's tongue tie, mastitis early on, and not having a full nights rest since I was 5 mos pregnant I was vulnerable. That is the best word I can find to describe where I've been. I was hyper sensitive to all the comments, advice, and unnamed folks barging in my home unannounced (do not ever visit a new mother and baby with out warning... I have talked to a lot of folks and they agree that this is the worst!). While in this fog I also let the negativity of certain people just drag me on down with them. I am sure this is a result of time away from church and my personal time with Jesus. There are certain folks I just wish I could steer clear of but for whatever reason The Lord thinks I have a lesson (or lessons) to learn from the difficulties that come with certain lovelies. One is self control. Still working on it...

Today in Sunday school we talked about beauty (among other things). What does it look like? We all agreed that it looks like confidence. A woman is also found beautiful in the midst or the aftermath of a storm when they have not let bitterness take root but instead have let Jesus be Jesus in their lives. That is what I want. No matter how much negativity surrounds me I want to shine. I want to be confident as a new mother. Confident in my decisions because they are rooted in Him. I want to be able to encourage and love others where THEY are and not where I THINK they need to be. I want to look in my enemies' eyes and smile. I want to be slow to speak and slow to anger. I want to be the most supportive wife, the most selfless mother, the most honest and uplifting friend, a thoughtful daughter, a faithful sister, and the most devoted believer.

So with the new year in full swing and my birthday 3 days away I say out with the old and in with the new. Detoxify. Modify. Less of me and more of Him. Waste not, want not (time on Facebook, perhaps?). Positive words and positive actions.

Last but certainly not least... I am sorry to the ones I love most. Sorry you had to go through the fog with me. Thank you for loving me through it. I apologize for the ugly words and ugly attitude. This world has nothing for me.

Never forget..

When Hank was a newborn and we watched tons of Boy Meets World, The Walton's, Full House, Little House on the Prairie, Saved By the Bell, and The Cosby Show. Those were the days and I never want to forget them.

Sunday night when I had church in my living room on my couch with a very wise lady. She encouraged my heart more than she will ever know and provided the peace I needed to go back to work. I don't ever want to forget when Jesus romanced my heart using Amy Stone.

Text messages from my man. He allows the Lord to use him in my life when I need them both the most. He doesn't say much but when he does. Wow. I never want to forget how blessed I am to have married the Will Ginn.
