"I hate being stuck in the routine of things" and "I function so much better with routine" are both statements that have come out of my mouth.
I said the other day that in my perfect world I would have a nanny just so I could leave the house without interrupting nap time or bed time. What a dream to be able to run to the grocery store, target, or yoga and know that my baby is sleeping away in his own bed. See, if we venture out in the early part of the day Hank is going to fall asleep in the car for 20 minutes. After a 20 minute nap he tries to convince me that he's good. Except that he's not. So then we fight and wrestle. Basically the rest of the day is poop because he's all out of whack and my level of productivity is dwindling minute by minute. Not to mention the patience. Oh patience, Lord, let it rain.
I'm saying all of this so when I start being lazy again one day I can read back about the benefits of routine in my life.
We spent several days at the beach with my family and it was prefect timing. Will and I got to focus on "us" and we had a lot of eager helping hands with Hank. We relaxed, cooked delicious meals, and chilled our minds. We were also rooming with Hank and naps were not consistent. So while the beach was such a treat it was also inspiration for a routine. Also, one of my woman crushes posted about establishing a routine in her home and I was all like, "Preach it, Mama!". I'm 4 days into our new routine and Hank is better for it and so am I.
Here is what I would like for our days to look like on MWF:
6AM- Mama wakes and does The Shred with mean ole Jillian. (Can I also pat myself on the back for sacrificing even more sleep? Hank still wakes 2-3 times a night. The beach also made me tired of this mama pudge.. hence a 6 am work out).
Sometime between 6:30-7AM Hank wakes up and Daddy spends time with him and even lets me shower.
Then it's time for breakfast and getting Will off to work or play.
About 2 hours after Hank wakes up he's ready for milk and a nap.
While he is asleep I will do laundry and vacuum (on Mondays) or clean the bathrooms and wash diaps (on Wednesdays) or vacuum on Fridays.
Hank will wake after an hr or 2 and then we will play and we'll play hard.
A few hours later it will be nap #2 time. I will then spend time in the Word and then make necessary phone calls, pay bills, whatev.
After his afternoon nap we will venture out if we HAVE to.
I'm going to try to be super organized with trips to Target. Like, be prepared for upcoming birthdays and buy all presents in one trip. I'm also going to try to stock up on basics so I'm not always having to run to and fro for something we ran out of.
Starting at 7:15 Hank gets a bath, jammies, a few books, milk, songs, and rocked. Then night night!
Hoping to go to the grocery store on Sundays after church while Hank and Will nap.
It won't be long before Hank drops a nap and we'll change things up.
For now though, this is the jam. It takes determination and organization but I don't feel frazzled at the end of the day because there is still laundry or dishes. I have time for Will and can still get in bed at a decent hour. I feel so refreshed and my baby has been sleeping SO much better with a predictable schedule! So pleased with this week and how I've been a better steward of my time (with Jesus' help.. 6AM?!) So, future-lazy-self with all the excuses in the world: Quit cheating your family. Make time for Him and exercise!
Hoping to see some results by Hank's birthday and also hoping to work in some Saturday yoga in Anniston. :)
