What are you learning?

I read this quote the other day out of the Captivating workbook by Stasi Eldredge and when I did, my whole world went "Aha!" in that moment.

"God is not after servants who love, but lovers who serve."

Read the book. It is SO good. Then, after you finish Captivating read Wild at Heart written by her husband.

I met with my new mentor yesterday to just chat and encourage one another. It was so refreshing. It is so neat to me to see where people have been and where they're going.

I've been off facebook for 2 weeks now and more than anything I just feel free. I don't have to scroll through every time I sit down to nurse Hank. I stare at him while he gently runs his fingers through my hair and I die a little inside because never in my life have a known a preciousness like Hank.

I have been so productive lately. Just doing my house work and preparing for the next day. Reminds me of Proverbs 31 where it says, "she laughs at the days to come". Why is she laughing? Because she is prepared. There have been many nights where I'm not laughing about the days to come, more like crying. Feeling overwhelmed and like I'll never be caught up with laundry or dishes or vacuuming. I know there will be more nights of crying because I'm so far from perfect but I hope there are many more nights of laughing.

Not to say I don't flip the TV on sometimes and indulge in some raunch (as Will calls it) like Teen Mom or The Kardashians..... And not to say I won't be back on facebook (because there is a lot of good there, too) but for right now this is where I need to be. I have to be protective about what and who I let in.

Back to the quote... He doesn't want our works. He wants our love. He wants it to flow out of us. If I'm really loving my husband I will naturally be serving him because I can't help myself. If I'm concentrating on just serving him I don't think the love will come as easily.

Last night when I was getting my exercise on with my favorite, Jordan Brown, she was talking about how we are to submit (don't turn your nose up at that word) to Jesus but it is a full circle because Jesus washed feet. Then she talked about how that fleshes out in marriage. If men love their wives like Jesus loves the church (He died for us) women will be overjoyed to serve (submit to) them.

I'm thankful for:
friends who give motivational surprises along with encouragement.
husbands who tote babies in ergos.
new cats that show up in the barn when you've been missing your possum for months.
mentors who care and mentors who laugh.
Sunday school lessons that move you to the core.
guys getting saved and changing it all for the future of their young families.
consignment sales, bubbles, and jon jons.
family reunions and good memories of my Paw-Paw.
more daylight at night.

We share a brain. A decade apart nonetheless, with differences here and there, but still your words often are mine.;)
